Effective immediately – October 15, 2026
Notice from Wabaseemoong Independent Nations Chief and Council and Animal Control.
Chief and Council are directing all community residents and pet owners to immediately ensure their dogs are safely secured within their homes, in fenced yards, or properly tied up on secure leashes. Dogs must also be leashed at all times when on walks or outside the home.
There have been numerous ongoing reports of aggressive dogs in the community, and recent serious incidents have highlighted the importance of taking immediate precautions. We ask all residents to do their part by ensuring their dogs are safely secured. Our thoughts are with those families affected during this difficult time.
We encourage all community members to work together to keep our community safe and report any concerns involving dogs roaming freely or posing a risk to public safety. By taking responsibility for our dogs and ensuring they are properly secured, we can help protect one another and prevent further incidents.
Please be advised that Chief and Council will be exploring all options to address the issue of dogs roaming freely and reports of aggressive dogs.
The safety and well-being of our children, families, and all community members is our highest priority, and we ask for everyone’s cooperation and understanding.
Please care for one another.
