Mizhakiiwetung Memorial School
Mizhakiiwetung Memorial School is a Kindergarten to Grade 12 school located in Whitedog, Ontario, serving students from Wabaseemoong Independent Nations and the communities of White Dog, One Man Lake, and Swan Lake.
Opened in 2011, the 48,000-square-foot school provides a welcoming environment where academic learning, Ojibwe language, culture, and land-based experiences come together. Designed around a central circular courtyard, the school’s two curving wings reflect the form of the sacred eagle and its importance in Ojibwe culture. With 16 classrooms and a range of learning, recreation, and community spaces, Mizhakiiwetung Memorial School supports students from their earliest years through graduation while helping them stay connected to their culture, community, and the land.
