Tips for Managing Your Child’s Stress/Anxiety

TIP: Let the child create without worrying about doing it “right or wrong.”

DRAW IT. BUILD IT. CREATE IT.

Children don’t always have words for what they are feeling. Art, music, storytelling and other creative activities can give those feelings another way out.

  • Draw what the worry looks like.
  • Keep a small worry journal to store thoughts.
  • Make something with clay, beads or craft supplies.
  • Play music, sing or drum.
  • Tell or write a story about the feeling.
  • Ask: “What might help this worry feel smaller?”
