The Wabaseemoong Child and Youth Wellness Centre

We provide wellness and mental health services for Wabaseemoong children and youth. Our programs take a holistic approach, which focuses on fun activities and cultural practices that take care of body, mind and spirit. Our staff includes a mental health therapist, a family support worker, a youth in transition worker, youth workers and more. We focus on young people but we also provide services for families.

The Youth Centre also serves as a drop-in space. This is a safe place where children and youth can relax and have some fun. If you need help or want someone to talk to, we are here for you.

A safe place that belongs to the children and youth of Wabaseemoong.

Wellness Programs

The Youth Centre is a reliable place for Wabaseemoong children and youth to spend their free time. We provide planned activities such as crafts, traditional teachings, movie nights, cooking, gym and fitness time.

We have plenty of space for kids to pursue their own interests as well. Planning to spend time here helps kids to make positive choices. They’ll find new hobbies, learn more about our culture and traditions, gain healthy habits, nurture new friendships and more. We’re always open to new ideas! We encourage fun, kindness and respect for all.

Mental Health Programs

Youth Centre staff have specialized skills that can help young people who need mental health support. If you know a young person who would benefit from individual help, such as counselling, intervention or mentorship, let us know. Services include therapy, assessments, counselling, service coordination and case management.

Youth Crisis Intervention Program

We provide emergency support 24 hours, 7 days a week for all children and youth who are experiencing mental health distress. The Youth Crisis Response Line is open after hours, including weekends and holidays. Local crisis workers who answer the phone provide support immediately and can also meet in person. They conduct wellness checks when required. No one has to suffer. We can help!

Youth In Transition Program

The Youth Centre is available to help youth who are transitioning out of foster care. Caregivers and friends of these young adults are welcome to participate. We can help with education and training programs, court matters, employment, daycare, mentorship, referrals to outside agencies such as KCA and WNHAC, and more.

It’s normal for young people aging out of the system to need practical and emotional support. We’ll help you land on your feet and plan for your future.

Family Support Program

This program provides holistic support to Wabaseemoong families. Recognizing that each family has unique needs and goals, we work alongside other community resources to offer family-centred support. This is done in a variety of ways such as building therapeutic relationships, connecting families with cultural supports, practical assistance, referrals, activities that promote family togetherness, and skill building groups. All families can use some extra support at times, so whatever your situation, we are honoured to walk alongside you and your loved ones.

You deserve to thrive!
